My "new" 2001 Savage

Just got me a real nice 3300 mi. black Savage and would like to know the difference (if any) between the '01 and the 86-88 in the Clymer manual. Also, my bike is supposed to have a 5 speed gearbox, but I'll be damned if I can tell the difference in rpm between 4th and 5th! Am I nuts or what? BTW, I'm really enjoying this forum. Thanks!!!
